Our Aims

Newick House School aims to provide its pupils with:

A stimulating learning environment where pupils feel safe and secure
A happy place to learn and work
A relevant, broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum
Opportunities to be creative, fit and healthy
Opportunities to be fully involved in a wide range of educational and community settings
The support to develop their own confidence and self esteem
The encouragement to develop respect for themselves, for each other, for their community and for the environment.
The school prepares pupils to gain as much independence as possible at school and in adult life.

Autumn Term 2011

Term commences for pupils on Monday 5th September and ends on Friday 16th December 2011

Staff Training (INSET) day:
Friday 2nd September 2011 and Friday 7th October 2011

Half term - Monday 24th to Friday 28th October 2011

Spring Term 2012

Term commences for pupils on Wednesday 4th January 2012 and ends for pupils on Thursday 29th March 2012

Tuesday 3rd January 2012
Friday 30th March 2012

Half term - Monday 13th February to Friday 17th February 2012

Easter Break is Monday 2nd April to Friday 13th April 2012 inclusive. Good Friday and Easter Monday being Friday 6th April and Monday 9th April 2012 respectively.

Summer Term 2012

Term commences on Monday 16th April 2012 and ends for pupils on Thursday 19th July 2012.

Staff Training (INSET) day:
Friday 20th July 2012 (tbc)

Half term - Wednesday 6th June to Friday 8th June 2012.

Monday 4th June 2012 being a Bank Holiday and Tuesday 5th June 2012 being the Queen's Jubilee

At this point Newick House School and Court Meadow School will amalgamate and become Woodlands Meed School. The dates following are for the new school.

Autumn Term 2012

Term commences on Tuesday 4th September and ends on Friday 21st December 2012.

Half term - Monday 29th October to Friday 2nd November 2012.

Spring Term 2013

Term commences on Monday 7th January and ends on Thursday 28th March 2013.

Half term - Monday 18th February to Friday 22nd February 2013.

Summer Term 2013

Term commences on Monday 15th April and ends on Wednesday 24th July 2013.

Half term - Monday 27th May to Friday 31st May 2013.

At Newick House School we encourage children to take pride in their appearance and this is reflected in the commitment of parents to see their children looking smart. Parents may purchase items of clothing at shops of their choice (e.g. Marks & Spencers, Asda, Tesco, Next, Matalan, etc), except for school sweatshirts, cardigans and polo shirts with the school logo which are available from the school. We also encourage ex-pupils to donate their old uniform back to the school as it can be useful to other students.

Children are expected to wear everyday:

Grey/black trousers, shorts, skirts, pinafores

Burgundy & white check summer dresses

White shirt or polo shirt

Grey or white socks

Burgundy school sweatshirt – available from school office (£7.00 – £9.00)

Black/brown shoes

PE kit in named bag – brought into school at the beginning of the week

Blue shorts

White school t-shirt – available from school office (£3.00)

Plimsolls or trainers

Book bag – please check daily as letters/information to parents will be placed in the bag each day. Available from school office (£2.00)
