Welcome to our school and to this website. Our community special school serves the Mid Sussex area. Newick House provides for pupils with a wide range of complex learning difficulties and disabilities and specialises in Communication and Interaction. The school aims to support all pupils in becoming as confident and independent as they can to prepare them for a happy and successful adult life.
In line with local authority plans, we are now looking forward to an exciting future with a new site, an amalgamation and new school name. We will be amalgamating Newick House with the pupils and staff of Court Meadow School in September 2012 to create a new high quality specialist provision. The new school will be called Woodlands Meed and will have purpose-built buildings in the centre of Burgess Hill for pupils from nursery age up to the age of 14 and for our PMLD learners. WSCC is planning to refurbish the current Newick House site for the remaining older pupils aged 14-19, which will be known as College site.
I have been appointed as the Headteacher Designate for Woodlands Meed from September 2012, and am currently working with staff at both schools, with the community and the local authority to ensure the transition to the new school can be a smooth as possible for all concerned. Some senior staff appointments have also been made for Woodlands Meed. Click here to see a list of the appointments to date.

We are already starting to work as a team to prepare for the new school. Updates will be made on this website as and when we have more news. In the meantime, Newick House will continue to offer the highest possible educational provision to its current pupils.' Gill Perry, Headteacher
